Benefit of Massage Therapy

  Most importantly, it feels great!

However, massage goes far beyond feeling good. Swedish Massage stretches and loosens muscles and other tissue. This manipulation of tissue leaves a sensation of complete relaxation. Massage increases circulation, improves blood flow and stimulates the movement of lymph fluid. This increase speeds the removal of toxic waste products and allows nutrient rich, fresh clean blood and oxygen to reach all the cells of the body. The enhancement of waste removal lessens the chance of toxic build up, ("knots") which can become  a permanent adhesion and cause tremendous discomfort and possible dis-ease. Massage addresses specific sports related injuries, and injuries sustained from everyday activity. Massage can help release chronic muscular tension and pain by improving circulation and increasing  joint flexibility. Massage sessions help to reduce mental and physical fatigue and stress. Swedish Massage can help you to sleep better, reduce your anxiety, and create an overall sense of good health.

Swedish Massage

Massage therapy is one of the most ancient and venerable healing arts. Recent studies prove that touch is a basic nutrient for survival. As our technical world advances, human touch is lost more and more, in every aspect of our society. We are bombarded with cell phones, computers, modems, faxes and telephone lines. This technological overload creates a loss of human contact. Attention to our personal needs and feelings are focused "on-line", behind dynamically designed pieces of machinery. We have lost physical contact and personal interaction in our daily lives.

Massage sessions provide a safe, nurturing environment for someone to be touched and cared for.

Who Can Get a Massage

There are some contraindications (conditions that might be at risk) for massage, but mostly everyone can have a massage.  From young to old, healthy and sick, pregnant or not, a massage can benefit everyone.  An initial intake will determine if there is cause for concern, However, if you think that you  have a condition that might prevent you from the benefits of a massage, please consult with your doctor and be sure to discuss it with your therapist.
